Although everyone would agree that any motor vehicle accident involving serious injury or fatalities is terrible, some crashes may seem especially tragic. In a horrific example, three people were killed and another critically injured due to a head-on collision. Recently, Pennsylvania State Police released their preliminary findings of the investigation. Although no criminal charges have yet been filed, the deceased victims’ families may have cause to pursue a wrongful death lawsuit against the driver believed responsible.
2 vehicles crash head-on
The crash happened late one evening near Lake Nockamixon in Haycock Township. According to police, a 26-year-old man from out of state collided head-on with a northbound vehicle driven by a 25-year-old Ottsville man. Due to the crash, both vehicles ended up in the northbound lane facing west, and the vehicle that was hit became fully engulfed in flames.
3 people dead, another critically injured
Both the driver and the 26-year-old male passenger of the car that was hit died at the scene, as well as a 24-year-old woman who was a passenger in the other vehicle. The driver of that vehicle suffered critical injuries and was transported via air to a Philadelphia hospital. The police investigation indicates there were no adverse weather conditions at the time of the crash, and the road was dry. However, the area did not have any streetlights so it was dark.
Many Pennsylvania residents may find an incident like this one particularly difficult to process, as three young adults were killed and a fourth critically injured, possibly due to recklessness and/or negligence on the part of the driver deemed responsible. The deceased victims’ families, while most certainly grieving the sudden loss of their loved ones, may also be facing many unexpected expenses that tend to follow this type of tragedy. Likely, they are also looking to hold the person thought responsible accountable. If, when the investigation concludes, evidence indicates the driver was at fault, they may decide to consult with an experienced personal injury lawyer who can advise them on how to proceed.
