Head-on collisions are treacherous. Also known as a frontal impact, a head-on collision happens when two vehicles that are traveling in opposite directions crash directly into each other. They often occur when the vehicles are traveling at a higher rate of speed and are usually very abrupt. Even though these kinds of collisions account for a small percentage of the total number of motor vehicle accidents in the country, they are usually fatal.
Deadly wrong-way crash
Recently in Columbia County, a head-on collision killed one person and injured another motorist. The accident happened during the overnight hours along Millville Road near Madison Township. According to accident reports, a car was traveling on Millville Road when, for unknown reasons, the driver crossed the center line and drove into oncoming traffic.
Reportedly, the car crashed head-on into another car. Authorities said the driver in the car that was hit died at the scene of the accident. The driver who apparently caused the crash was seriously injured and taken to a local medical center for treatment, reports said.
Help is available for victims and families
There are no words that can accurately describe what it is like to lose a loved one in a tragic motor vehicle accident. In the state of Pennsylvania, when an individual is killed due to the negligence of another party, the surviving family members can contact an experienced attorney and seek damages through a wrongful death claim. A successful claim could result in much-needed compensation to help ease the pain and suffering of family members as well as pay for end-of-life expenses and other documented items of monetary damages.
