The ability to walk without pain is essential for everyone but is especially so for those whose professions depend upon their physical abilities. Unfortunately, a man in another state alleges that he lost his profession due to negligence at the hands of those he trusted to provide him with sound medical advice. He recently filed a medical malpractice lawsuit as a result.
The defendant in the case was the goalkeeper of a professional soccer team when he began to experiencing pain in his shin; tests reportedly revealed stress fractures in both of his tibias. He claims that team doctors recommended the insertions of metal plates in his shins. Though his recovery from the surgery initially went smoothly, he ultimately had to have both plates removed due to infection.
After the removal, he sought treatment from different doctors who discovered that the infection had spread to his bones. In addition to undergoing multiple surgeries, many performed to removed dead bone, he claims that he will never be able to play soccer in the same capacity as before. He describes months in which he was unable to move from his couch without difficulty and the need for antibiotic drug therapy. His condition, he says, also took a mental toll, resulting in panic attacks and depression.
His medical malpractice lawsuit names two team doctors, among others, as defendants. He argues that the metal plates were not properly sterilized, the treatment was unnecessary and doctors failed to attempt more conservative treatments before advising a riskier procedure; the lawsuit requests over $10 million in damages. Unfortunately, people in Pennsylvania have also found themselves suffering from similar negligence and face significant financial harm as a result. In an effort to hold those deemed responsible accountable for their actions and ensure that they are able to meet their financial needs, these victims may also choose to seek legal action.
