Pennsylvania residents are probably familiar with the term “medical malpractice.” Though the phrase has become common in news headlines nationwide, many may not be aware that it can apply to the negligent behavior of a doctor or health provider in any medical field. One Pennsylvania couple was devastated when their adult son, who lived at their home, lost his life as a result of an overdose of drugs prescribed to him to treat a mental health condition. The doctor had failed to inform the man or his parents of the possible dangers, and also failed to perform testing that could have possibly detected a problem before it was too late.
