When collisions occur, most envision a crash between two or more cars. However, many car accidents involve only one vehicle. One such single vehicle accident occurred in Pennsylvania that lead to the death of a young woman.
Pennsylvania State Police stated that the 26-year-old woman was a passenger in a Roadster kit car driven by a 39-year-old man. For reasons that are at this time still unclear, the man driving lost control of the vehicle. The car then left the roadway and struck a tree, ejecting both people from the car.
Tragically, the young woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The man who was driving suffered severe injuries, though the details of those injuries were not released. He was flown to a local hospital for treatment. Police report that neither of the two were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. It is unknown whether criminal charges will be filed.
Though nothing can bring back the life lost in this collision, the victim’s family may be able to find some form of closure through filing a wrongful death lawsuit against the driver of the car in a Pennsylvania civil court. If their suit successfully proves negligence on behalf of the driver, they could be awarded monetary damages that could help pay for funeral costs and any other expenses related to the crash. Any families who have lost loved ones in car accidents could consult experienced personal injury attorneys to learn more about these types of claims and to obtain assistance in filing them.
