Thanks to modern technological advancements, motor vehicles have gone through significant safety and performance improvements in the last few years. Although today’s vehicles are safer than in years past, there’s really no way to ensure the complete safety of vehicle occupants when a violent crash happens. Unfortunately, it seems more and more fatal motor vehicle accidents are happening across the state of Pennsylvania.
Details of fatal crash
Recently in New Vernon Township, a teen was killed and a driver was injured in an unfortunate accident. The crash happened at night on Interstate 79 near mile marker 129. According to reports, a car was headed southbound when the driver suddenly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to leave the roadway. Reports said the car went off the east side of the road and crashed into an embankment.
The car cleared the embankment and rolled over before coming to a stop in the left lane of I-79 northbound. Reportedly, the car was then struck on the passenger side by a northbound vehicle. Tragically, authorities said the 19-year-old passenger in the car was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The driver of the car was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries, police noted.
Help is available for surviving family members
It is impossible to know when a fatal accident may happen. Those in Pennsylvania who have suffered the loss of a beloved family member due to the negligence of another party have the right to speak with a lawyer and take legal action through a wrongful death claim. Damages from a successful lawsuit may help families endure the pain and suffering that often comes with the unexpected loss of a loved one.
